B.G (Before Google)

Sekarang adalah tahun 2008 (sesudah masehi).
Menurut kalender China, tanggal 7 Februari mendatang adalah tahun baru 2559.
Menurut kalender Arab, tanggal 10 Januari lalu adalah tahun baru Hijriah 1429.
Menurut kalender Yahudi, saat ini adalah tahun 5768.

And, as an ITer, let me give another calendar system… Ok, let’s call A.G (After Google) and B.G (Before Google). After Google means masa di mana Google.com sudah ada dan Before Google means masa di mana Google.com belum ada. Penting ya? Oh, penting saudara…

Ceritanya begini, Google.com didirikan pada tanggal 1998. Artinya tahun 2008, menurut sistem kalender Google adalah tahun 10 A.G. Apa yang terjadi? Saat ini terjadi rata-rata 2 juta pencarian dalam 1 hari lewat Google.com. Mari berhitung… Pada tahun 1 A.G, ada 2 juta x 365 hari = 730 juta pencarian dalam 1 tahun. Maka, 10 tahun kemudian (tepatnya tahun 10 A.G atau 2008 sesudah masehi), total pencarian yang dilakukan oleh umat manusia melalui Google.com adalah:

730 juta x 10 tahun = 7.3 Milyar pencarian.

Jelas ya?

Pertanyaannya, 7.3Milyar pencarian ini… ditanyakan ke siapa pada jaman B.G? Apakah umat manusia membiarkan pertanyaan2nya tak terjawab sampai muncul Google.com?

Dari sekedar hal menjawab pertanyaan ini, Google.com yang pada tahun 1 A.G bernilai USD $100rb (sedang pada tahun2 B.G.tentu saja Google.com bernilai USD $0), kini, pada tahun 10 A.G nilainya telah meningkat hingga USD $23Milyar. Pertanyaannya (lagi), ada di manakah USD $23Milyar ini pada tahun2 B.G? Mengapa harta karun senilai USD $23Milyar ini tiba-tiba muncul pada 10 A.G, dan ditemukan oleh Google.com? Apakah ada pihak yang melaporkan bahwa dirinya kehilangan USD $23Milyar karena dirampok oleh Google.com? Ternyata sejauh ini nggak ada komplain… Where’s that USD $23Billion come from? I’ll tell you, USD $23Milyar itu udah ada di dalam dunia ini sejak pertama kali dunia dijadikan… Bagi yang sudah lahir pada B.G, I’ll tell you, the money was there all alone! Till Google.com come and have it. It prooves one thing, abundance world!

JK. Rowling juga menemukan harta karun sebesar USD $1Milyar dolar lewat buku Harry Potter. Where’s that USD $1Billion come from?? Did she rob the bank? No! The money was there even when JK Rowling hasn’t born yet!

  • Youtube.com is worth USD $969Million.
  • MySpace.com is worth USD $580Million.
  • Friendster.com is worth USD $269Million.

(Harga tersebut didapat dari revenue yang dihasilkan setiap tahunnya).

Coba jawab, setelah harta karun dunia ditemukan oleh Google.com, JK Rowling, Youtube.com, MySpace.com, Friendster.com, dan kawan2nya apakah dunia sudah kehabisan uangnya? Sama sekali belom habis. Stoknya masih berlimpah… The money IS HERE right now. Menunggu untuk diklaim… Once I got them, I’ll bless others, contribute back to the society and make people come out from the poverty by educate them, teach them, restore them to be what God has design. I call it as "Society restoration"…!

Siapa yang mau bergabung untuk berburu harta karun…?

Making relationship works

It wasn’t easy to make a new relationship works between man and woman. Need lot of adjustments. So are we. In less than a month, since Christmas, my relationship with her is not going to be a better and healthy relationship. So we decided to step back for 1 month. We do our daily activity as usual as if we don’t have relationship, meanwhile we must pray, ask God, humbly our self before the Lord and release it to God’s will what’s best for us.

We do a "silent month". Let’s see whether I can continue this relationship or not.

Crossroad of my career

I’ve been working in this M* C** International University for the last 6 months. Everything just great. I have my own private room with beautiful mount scenery, private newest computer with 24/7 days hi-speed wireless internet connection, working with the professors, expert gurus. The friends are nice, friendly and truly support each other. The students respect me though I’m the youngest IT lecturer and have least experiences among my other colleagues.

Add the fact that once a week, we have class what-so-called "how to teach the class in English". It was taught by one the English professor who has expertise in Linguistic and English literature. We were also taught how to write academic writing, which very important in academic field, especially those who want to write journal or paper in international journal. The university also has scholarship program. They give opportunities for lecturers and staffs to study overseas to get Master Degree or Ph.D - it’s absolutely free (but working bond is a must).

In that kind of environment, tell me, what could have been better? For me personally, no doubt that it’s the best career in my whole academic working experience. That’s the reason why i’m so exciting to go to work everyday. I work for like 75hrs/week.

Ok, here’s the "but".

Working as a lecturer in qualified uni has been my dream since I was a teacher in senior high. But, honestly, I can’t afford to be a lecturer if I have to lose my freedom. I spent most of my productive hours at office, no other choice… Stay, sit, work in front of computer to do academic things, preparing the slides and exercises, teaching, grading, browsing to enrich the subjects, reading books, discuss with colleagues about the materials, do web programming (check: http://www.m*c****.ac.id, replace the asterisks with correct characters). That’s my daily activities.

Those activities are REALLYY not my DNA. Working from 8 to 5 in the same office everyday REALLLYY not me. Yes, it is my doing, but it’s not my being, i wasn’t born in that way…

So, I’ve decided… June 2008 is my end-of-contract-period and… it also becomes the end of my career as office employee.

I’ll quit from M* C** University.
